Gurgaon Police Directs Malls, Hotels And Other Commercial Buildings To Make Videos Of Their Premises

Back

According to sources, Gurgaon police officials have called upon industrial complexes to create videos including particular details such as the number of rooms available in their buildings, emergency exits and other specific information. Further, it is known that police is asking to make these videos so that the security agencies can use the videos to familiarize themselves with the complexes and thwart a terrorist attack like the one that took place in Mumbai on 26/11. After the submission of videos by Gurgaon-based business establishments, they would be shared with paramilitary forces such as National Security Guard (NSG).

A Gurgaon police officer of senior rank reveals that during Mumbai attack, the commandos of NSG were not able to enter the premises of the Taj Palace Hotel as they were not familiar with the ins and outs of the hotel complex and this enabled the terrorists to hold VVIPs hostage for a couple of days. He further adds that with the help of a video guide, the security personnel can get to know the emergency, entry point, exits and other features of a complex and this would help them to launch counter strike against terrorists with ease.

S.S Deswal, the police Commissioner of Gurgaon, reveals that the police is undertaking all steps necessary for preventing terrorist attacks as Gurgaon is considered to be one of the principal venues for Commonwealth Games.

Sources disclose that the Gurgaon police realized the need of security while carrying out a security survey of several Gurgaon-based industrial complexes. However, while undertaking the security review in Gurgaon, police officials found security lapses in nine complexes that included malls and a couple of hotels. After evaluating the security deficiencies, these establishments were sent notices by the police. S.S Deswal, the police Commissioner states that in the course of the security review, police found out that in certain buildings even the posted security guard didn’t know the emergency exit points. He further reveals that the lapses found in the security audit forced the police to decide on video preparation of all commercial buildings in Gurgaon.
